This artwork serves as a visual archive of my artistic language—an intimate self-portrait that embodies my identity.
Graphite drawing is more than a technique for me; it is my most fundamental and unique artistic language. Graphite is not merely a material but a trace of time, a medium through which my artistic grammar has been constructed. In this piece, I have employed three distinctive graphite techniques from my personal archive to depict a classical sculpture, an East Asian woman, and a Hahoe mask.
By juxtaposing the sculpture and the female figure, I sought to visually define my signature artistic style. The inclusion of the Hahoe mask is not just a cultural reference but a symbolic representation of my artistic roots and the place that shaped my creative foundation. It is more than an object—it is a manifestation of time, history, and the deep resonance of my second home.
Within this single composition, the evolution and essence of my artistic journey coexist. When these figures from different times and cultures converge through the medium of graphite, a new universe unfolds—one that transcends the boundaries between East and West.
